Day 5 - Sydney

CHRISTY:

Today we just were typical tourists.  Scott had the whole day planned for Valentines Day.  It was pretty sweet of him to think of Valentines Day with everything else he had already planned.  We got up and had our buffet breakfast and then we were off to a tour of the opera house.  There was so much I learned about this architectural wonder.  I won't tell you all the details but I will tell you there there are 6 different theaters in there and they are all used for different things.  The events range from concerts, dance parties, private events, symphonies, opera, plays and just about any event you could imagine.  There is this one room that has a pipe organ with over 10,244 pipes!  It's only used like 6 times a year because it takes a specialized organist to play such a complicated instrument.

After that tour, Scott had planned a trip up the Sydney Tower Eye which is a lot like the Seattle Space Needle.  It was such a beautiful view up top (photo at the top of the post).  You could see so much of Sydney including some of the historic things we missed.  Sydney is an incredible city with history and architectural wonder.  It's definitely somewhere you should visit.  The people are friendly and oddly enough everyone is beautiful here.  It's like they truly take care of themselves.  Scott and I did notice that there are hardly any fast food restaurants.  The restaurants they have are pretty healthy.  I feel they were pretty health conscience.  We always saw people running for fun and there were plenty of fitness centers around town.  All the hotels we stayed in even had extensive workout equipment. When we went out to eat there was a good amount of healthy food with plenty of vegetables.  The past 5 days have been amazing and it's not over.  Tomorrow we board a ship for a 13 day cruise, I'm so excited!!

SCOTT:

It was a pretty good day.  Rained on us for the first time though.. You might think I'm complaining, but the forecast said it was going to rain every single day since we've been here, including the day we went to the Australia Zoo.  Has not rained one drop.  Today wasn't actually bad, more of a drizzle as we were walking back from the Sydney Tower Eye (maybe 6 blocks).  We've been very lucky.

It was a nice Velentine's Day.  The guided opera house tour was very cool; I'm glad we did it because I learned a ton that I did not know about it.  And you KNOW how I love trivial information!  I even had time to join in a charity fundraiser here, can you see which one is me?

Finished this V-Day with an ice cream on the pier... perfect.
