Days 12-14 -- New Zealand

CHRISTY:

it's been a long 3 days at sea and for me the sea seems rougher than usual.  I haven't been feeling very good and the sea sick pills make me so tired.  The best part of being on the sea for 3 days straight was we played Bingo and actually won.  Of course the one time we finally win someone else wins too and we have to split the pot.  It was still nice to win though.  We cruised through the Fiordland National Park and it was so beautiful. The best part was it was on our side of the ship so we just sat on our balcony and enjoyed the sights all day long.  We saw amazing waterfalls, seals, a pod of dolphins, penguins, and huge birds.  It was truly breathtaking!  Today we finally went to port in Dunedin, New Zealand.  It was a nice little town with a lot of history and cute little stores.  This town is famous for it's wool because everywhere we went there was sheep stuff and wool.  There's Kiwi birds here somewhere but I spent most of the day searching and never saw one.  Well there's always tomorrow!

One of the main reasons I was so happy to be in port was to get more sea sick medicine.  I was hoping to get the patches since we were told they sell them over the counter here.  We went to 4 different pharmacies and they were out so I settled for the pills again.  Oddly enough though, we happened to stop at a local bar to have a drink and some appetizers and Scott was talking to some people about the pharmacy.  He mentioned we were looking for the sea sick patches and then some lady from another table said, "you're looking for sea sick patches, I have some".  All of the sudden I'm feeling so uncomfortable like we are making a  drug deal.  Scott proceeds to chat her up and finds out she's on our boat.  They exchange information and she said to text her when he gets back and she'll hook us up for $20!  WTH?  I feel like we narrowly escaped an episode of Locked Up Abroad!!  But at least I won't be sleepy all day anymore!  Tomorrow we stop in Christchurch (Lyttelton) New Zealand.

SCOTT:

Well we finally hit a first for cruising-we won a bingo game! But like Christy said, some other clown won too so we split the lowest pot of the day.  We won $43, which was exactly half of what we paid to play that day.  Oh well, better than nothing and definitely the cork has been popped!

The Fiords were pretty incredible.  Just Island after glacier-carved island with waterfalls.  Majestic cloud-covered peaks of rainforest, and abundant sea wildlife and birds.  Plus it was nice to sit on our own balcony sans crowds and watch it all going by.  Definitely better than I though it would be.

Port Chalmers was a cute town, a great combination of natural beauty and some old colonial buildings.  We took a shuttle into town and walked around, Christy going into every shop.  We finally stopped at a nice little spot for a local beer and some really good calamari.  That's where we met our dealer "Sally."  So she said to connect with her when we got back on the ship.  Unfortunately in the Princess App you have to send a request to connect.  Also unfortunate is there are 4 Sallys on this ship, so I hope I sent it to the correct one.  Otherwise I hope that whoever I DID send it to isn't a narc!
