Day 2 - Brisbane
CHRISTY: Today I got up at 6:00 a.m. and actually felt pretty rested. Scott got up shortly after and we decided to head down to the breakfast buffet. They had so many good things to choose from that I really wanted a platter instead of a small plate. One thing I never had before was Ricotta pancakes. They were delicious! You could put Mascarpone, chocolate, or honey. I of course put on all three! Everything they put out is so fresh and delicious.
After breakfast we decided to go for a walk and explore some more. We ended up at a beautiful botanical garden. They had this huge pond with a fountain where you could see large iguanas crawling around the outside. All the flowers, trees and the grounds were so beautifully kept up.
We kept walking until we reached the river walk. There were so many trees along the path that were submerged in water. As we took a look closer we began to see some of the biggest spiders I have ever seen in person. We quickly made our way out of there and wouldn't you know it, we were right in front of that darn casino again. It lures you in with promise of winning but after 20 minutes you realizes it's a damn lie! We left and decided to take our money shopping. At least this way I know I'll get something for my money! After walking almost 3 miles we decided to go back and chill for awhile. I snuck a workout in because I know that cruise is coming so I figure I should start burning off calories while I can.
Around 5:00 we decided to head town for dinner. We ate and then took a short walk to Target to get some UGGs. I know, silly but Target actually had them and they were cheaper than any place in California. Now we are back in the room relaxing, me with my UGGs on.
SCOTT:
As Christy mentioned, a pretty relaxing day. The botanical gardens were cool. I heard on the local news that a corpse flower was blooming (apparently they only bloom every 15 years), so I wanted to see that. Unfortunately for me as I found out, it was a different botanical garden, some 12 hours away.. Have fun for the NEXT 15 years, dumb flower! Walking along the river in a new town is always a treat; I'm amazed how tall and how many skyscrapers they have here.. Guess I didn't realize what a big town this is.
Oh yeah, during our shopping excursion Christy may have found UGGs, but I found the perfect souvenir bottle opener!
Tomorrow is going to be cool; going on a special tour and can't wait........
